In early September, we mentioned the possibility of the Nationals hosting a postseason game the same day the Capitals open the season at home.
Well you guys, it’s totally happening.
With the regular season officially over, the MLB has announced the NLDS postseason game times. The Nationals, who finished second in the National League, will hold home-field advantage during their first-round series against the Chicago Cubs. Game One will be held Friday with a 7:31pm first pitch. Game Two, which is the evening of the Caps home opener, is Saturday and has a 5:38pm first pitch.

The Capitals will take the ice beginning at 7 PM, but will be hosting their red carpet event outside Capital One Arena from 3:30-5pm.
According to the WMATA website, track work is pre-planned for October 7 on parts of the Orange, Green, and Red lines. The work on the Orange and Green lines will begin at 10 PM, but there are no times stated for Red line work.
Because this is a big day for DC sports, I put together a quick tip sheet.
You can find me in the fetal position very quickly forgetting the tips above.
