The Washington Capitals’ are one step closer to their opening night roster after making another move Monday.
At noon, the Capitals put forward Anthony Peluso on waivers with the intent of sending him down to the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears.
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun was the first to report the news.

Peluso was one of 36 NHL players put on waivers Monday.
The move leaves the Capitals training camp roster at 25, with at least two more cuts to make. Tyler Graovac, Alex Chiasson, Devante Smith-Pelly, Chandler Stephenson, and Nathan Walker are all battling for roster spots at forward while Taylor Chorney, Aaron Ness, Christian Djoos, and Madison Bowey are battling to stay in Washington on defense. All of those players would have to pass through waivers to be sent down to AHL Hershey except Madison Bowey.
The Capitals, who have likely finalized their roster internally, appear to be waiting until Tuesday to announce more roster moves. That decision may aid in keeping players they value in the organization as the rest of the NHL announces their final cuts.

Peluso, a right wing, was signed by Brian MacLellan on the first day of free agency this past July. Peluso’s one-year contract worth is $650,000 at the NHL level and $250,000 at the AHL level.
The 28-year-old forward did not play any games in the NHL last season, but did have a long stay with the Winnipeg Jets from 2012-2016. The sixth-round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft has scored four goals, registered 14 points, and collected 209 PIMs during his 214-game NHL career.
