Navy dad returns from deployment, surprises daughter at Caps game

The Washington Capitals host a Salute To Troops segment during every game. Wednesday’s salute was especially emotional.

Lieutenant Joe Lemanek surprised his daughter Kaitlyn Lemanek, who thought her father was still stationed overseas.

As the segment began, PA announcer Wes Johnson announced Kaitlyn to the crowd and ran down Lt. Lemanek’s accomplishments. Kaitlyn appeared choked up while waving to the camera.

Then it happened.

“On behalf of the organization we are proud to present Kaitlyn with her own Caps jersey,” Johnson began. “And here to present Kaitlyn with her jersey is her father Lt. Joe Lemanek, back from deployment to surprise Kaitlyn.”

As soon as Kaitlyn saw her dad, she sprinted down the walkway and jumped into his arms. It’s the greatest thing you’ll ever see.

Dad eventually presented his daughter with her own customized jersey. Kaitlyn was so excited.

Lt. Lemanek has served in the Navy since 2002 and spent over 15 years in service to our nation. He was previously deployed in the Middle East.

What a moment.
