October 7 has the potential to be a huge sports day in Washington DC.
The Washington Capitals will play the Montreal Canadiens in their home opener at the newly-renamed Capital One Arena. And, if the MLB seedings remain the same, the Washington Nationals would host Game Two of their National League Division Series at Nationals Park. If the season ended today, the Nats would play the defending-champion Chicago Cubs.
Important D.C. scheduling note: Game Two of the NLDS will be played on October 7 – same day as the Caps home opener. Should be a fun day

The Nationals clinched their second-straight postseason appearance Sunday after a win over the Philadelphia Phillies and a Miami Marlins loss. Their #Clinchmas celebration was epic.

No times have been announced for the NLDS, but if history leads anything the Nationals will host the earlier game that could begin between 4 and 5pm.
The Capitals game begins at 7pm at the Capital One Arena. The red carpet event, which has occurred the past two seasons, has previously taken place between 3 and 5pm.
Plan your metro rides accordingly!
