Peter and I have a secret checklist of things we want to accomplish before we die. On this list is make friends with rockstars, get our logo on a NASCAR race car, break international space-news, annoy the people who run our favorite sports team, and win the Frederick News-Post’s “Best of the Best” award for Best Blog. Looks like we’ve done all but the last one, so we really need your help right now.
The News-Post is our hometown paper. We love it. But they do not love us. Every year since the late 80s, they have given the Best Blog award to a site called Housewives of Frederick County.
Housewives is good – don’t get me wrong – but we just don’t have a passion for DIY summer doormat projects. These ladies win every year. They mobilize their audience like a gosh darn army. They are terrors in capri pants. It has to end.
We’re also up against Frederick Local Yokel, a site where one very angry person makes fun of how jammed up the Frederick political scene is, Lace and Grace Blog, which appears to be a site about how much better this lady’s life is compared to yours, and Perfect Little Bites, which actually looks delicious.
So hey, would you spare us a vote? You just need to go to the voting page, pick RMNB, and then verify your email address. It would mean the world to Peter and me. I know we’re just a itty bitty baby blog with a multinational writing staff that writes daily news and humor and analysis and we pay them using the gracious donations of a passionate audience so we didn’t have to sell the site to some big VC-backed corporation so we somehow became what’s probably the world’s biggest independent hockey website but also at the same time a deeply stupid place where we will never ever get over the Forsberg/Erat trade.
