Last summer, Nicklas Backstrom grilled up some healthy food with his personal trainer, Andreas Öhgren. Being called a #grillchef then, Backstrom upped his ante this summer while taking a professional cooking course.
Backstrom and Öhgren developed their cooking skills with actual Swedish Chef Karl Ljung. The two were joined by many other professional Swedish hockey players and other athletes, all participating in Öhgren’s training camp.
Öhgren posted the photo from cooking class featuring the many athletes on his Instagram.
“For ten till years we’ve developed our cooking with the fantastic chef Karl Ljung. This year we had a day cooking different kind of meat, fish, seafood and a mountain of vegetables and root crops,” Öhgren wrote in the caption as translated by Magnus Cadelin.
“We have a holistic perspective where physical training is as important as recovery, sleep, mental strength, and most important diet. That’s why these days are incredibly important and instructive. Thanks @karl_ljung and @restauranghillenberg for a magical day,” continued Öhgren.
He also added many hashtags, including #development, #diet, #alpineskiing and #holistic.
Öhgren hosts a training camp every summer that Backstrom has participated in before. This year, they were joined by:
- Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog
- Vancouver Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom
- Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Erik Gustafsson
- Carolina Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm
- Anaheim Ducks forward Rickard Rakell
- Florida Panthers prospect Linus Hultström
- ZSC Lions forward Mattias Sjögren
- Luleå HF forward Patrick Cehlin
- Karlskrona HK forward Mattias Guter
- Swedish Alpine ski racer Helena Rapaport
- Swedish World Cup skier Mattias Hargin
Backstrom is training hard for the upcoming season where he will likely be reunited with linemates Alex Ovechkin and TJ Oshie.
