Dmitry Orlov attends ‘Russian Super Cup’ final between Spartak and Lokomotiv

A week after attending Alex Ovechkin’s wedding, Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov remained in Moscow to be at the Russian Super Cup final between Spartak and Lokomotiv.

According to Wikipedia, the Russian Super Cup is a one-match soccer game that pits the winners of the Russian Premier League championship and the Russian Cup against each other. The annual match is played at the beginning of the season, typically in July, and has been awarded since 2003.

On Friday, Spartak Moscow, the winner of 2016–17 Russian Premier League, defeated Lokomotiv 2-1 to win its first ever Russian Super Cup final. Orlov captured some of the action from the stands.

Capitals defenseman John Carlson responded in the comments, saying “Let’s go spartak!!! @kuzy092.” He tagged Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Why do I have a feeling that’s an inside joke of some kind?

The game was played at Lokomotiv Stadium in Moscow. Here are the official highlights from the game.
