Over the last few years, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has dedicated much of his free time to raising money and awareness for sick, disabled, or orphaned children. Today, he’s at it again.
In an auction run by friend Lena Perminova, Ovi is offering to dress up as Darth Vader to raise money for a sick child. Darthvechkin will go to a party of the highest bidder’s choice along with several other people dressed up as Star Wars characters.
The auction started at $865, and, five hours later, reached $17,241. Yana Rudkovskaya has the top bid.
Ovechkin even filmed a 50-second commercial acting out a battle with fellow Star Wars characters.
“Hi, everybody. This is Alexander Ovechkin. For the first time, only for ‘SOS by Lena Perminova,’ I am Darth Vader. With all other heroes of Stars Wars, we will come to your party. Our main goal is to save the life of a young child. Place your bids right now.”
