Thursday was another day of mourning for DC sports fans after the Washington Capitals lost Game Seven to the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-0. It was the ninth time out of ten tries that the Caps have lost a playoff series to the Pens in the playoffs. Since entering the league in 2005, Alex Ovechkin has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs.
To celebrate that fact, Pittsburgh sandwich chain Primanti Bros created a special video tribute for The Great Eight. I’m pretty sure you guys are going to hate it.

Yup. They visualized the Ovechkin no cup joke.
Since publishing at 8 AM, the video has gotten over 3,000 retweets and 3,500 likes.
The replies were also 🔥🔥🔥
@primantibros Nah not for me I don't want to choke!

The social media taunt just adds more fuel to the fire between the two fanbases.
Last night, Penguins fans celebrated once again on the steps of National Portrait Gallery and chanted to Caps fans going home, “You can’t beat us.”

A fight broke out at the bottom of the steps.

Later, a drunk Caps fan decked a female Penguins fan on the sidewalk. This is reprehensible.
I long for the day when logo redesigns and clever GIFs were the worst the rivalry got.
