Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin just scored his 30th goal of the 2016-17 season and achieved some history in the process.
The Russian machine is now the third player in NHL history to score 30-plus goals in each of his first 12 seasons. The only other players to accomplish that feat are Mike Gartner (first 15 seasons) and Wayne Gretzky (first 13 seasons).
Wow.

For some reason, the Coyotes overloaded to the opposite side of the ice, leaving one of the greatest goal scorers of all-time wide open in his office. That’s some #greatcoaching. Marcus Johansson dished to Nicklas Backstrom. Backstrom dished to Ovechkin, who buzzed a wrist shot past a helpless Mike Smith.
Ovechkin’s having a down season for his standards, but these stats are mind-blowing.
That Nutribullet is already paying dividends.
