The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang is calling the oncoming storm a “paralyzing blizzard,” but I don’t get worried about weather until Nova Scotia’s own Frankie MacDonald cuts a promo about it. With the potential for more than a foot of snow to fall on Monday night, the internet’s best weatherman is warning our region to brace for the worst.
Frankie wants us to prepare right now. Charge your phones, get your coke and pizza. Gas up your snowplow. Go to the grocery store to get bread, milk, toilet paper, wine, Trader Joe’s popcorn, Dan Steinberg-approved cheeses, and an entire shipping pallet of Ian’s fave, canned spaghetti by Franco American.
Don’t wait. Prepare now.

Frankie doesn’t mess around about this stuff. He warned us before last year’s apocalyptic snowstorm.
If it matters, our team will be fine. The Caps will fly back to DC on Sunday night after the Ducks game, a good twelve hours before the snow should start. Their next game isn’t until Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild, which I’m a bit worried won’t happen. I’m also wondering if Bruce Boudreau took with him all of the team’s snow-related magic. Snowvechkin was a long time ago, and Ovi reportedly hurt himself while using a snowblower during last year’s storm.
It’s always an uneasy time before a big storm in this region. The Capitals’ current struggles makes it doubly so, but we’ve got early warning from a genuine internet treasure, so that’s at least one positive.
Like Frankie says, stay warm and be safe.
