Hockey is fun, but can also be a dangerous sport.
Early in the second period, a Philadelphia Flyers clearing attempt struck a Capitals fan in the front row, causing her to bleed from the head. And that’s when Alex Ovechkin sprung into action.
After completing his shift, the Russian machine raced to the bench where he grabbed a towel from the trainer. He then skated over to the boards and tossed it over to the family.
If Ovechkin could have physically ripped the boards and glass out of the concrete and cradled her in his arms, I’m sure he would have.
Remember five years ago when the narrative about Ovechkin was that he was selfish and a coach killer? It’s almost as if those analysts had no idea what they were talking about.
Here’s hoping the fan is okay. If you know who she is, please extend my well wishes.
