Thursday, Capitals prospects Liam O’Brien and Domenic Monardo got in their final workout before a weekend three-in-three, which would see the Bears play Syracuse, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and Springfield. O’Brien and Monardo got very creative on how to work up a sweat.
Donning inflatable dinosaur costumes, O’Brien and Monardo went one-on-one, attempting to play a legitimate game of basketball.
They failed. Miserably.
O’Brien and Monardo first announced their intentions to the Bears snapchat (@hersheybears38) where they quickly introduced themselves and their game of “prehistoric basketball.”
The two tried to dribble the ball down the court and shoot a basket, but the tiny dinosaur arms made it impossible. Laughs could be heard from inside their costumes.
Near the end of the video, a few other dinosaurs appeared in the background. Was a full team game about to take place?
The players were at GIANT Center. A high school basketball game was being held at the arena that night.
The inflatable dinosaur costume was created in 2015 for promotion of Jurassic Park, but soon became a popular meme after people would record videos wearing them while performing bizarre stunts. During Halloween, Vancouver Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom scared his teammates as they arrived to the rink and a bride even once wore one over her wedding dress when doing a “first look” on her wedding day.
