Monday night, the Washington Capitals landed the best player available ahead of the trade deadline, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. Hockey analysts universally agreed that this deal gave the Capitals — already the best team in the league — an even more dangerous lineup. Caps fans were pumped. Dreams of our favorite team hoisting the Stanley Cup this June began filling our heads.
