The Caps traveled to Nashville where Rain is a Good Thing, especially when it’s raining hats on the head of Filip Forsberg at the rate it has been lately. The Swedish forward made sure to break more Caps fan hearts on Saturday.
Sometimes Tom Wilson can be Hard to Love, but he got the game off to a good start for the away side, as the rugged forward was Feelin’ It early on and put the Caps up 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Roman Josi wouldn’t let the Preds go down Without a Fight, tying the game at one early in the second after some pretty awful defensive zone coverage that made me Lose My Mind. Aw Naw, Filip Forsberg scored to make it 2-1 and then Mike Fisher sent us looking for Beer Money after his slam dunk goal made it 3-1.
A comeback spurring goal is always good Til It’s Gone as Alex Ovechkin found out when his third period tally was washed out after review for being offside. Roman Josi then called game Over with a power play tally to make it 4-1. May We All be more like Evgeny Kuznetsov who made it 4-2 late.
Viktor Arvidsson Kissed You Good Night with an empty netter.
Predators beat Caps 5-2.
- There were two players on the ice named Phillip, but neither of them actually spell their name P-h-i-l-l-i-p. We also had one Johansen and one Johansson. Names are weird.
- Capitals 2012 first round pick Tom Wilson has goals in two straight games and three goals in his last six games. I imagine this hot streak is totally the result of fellow bro-bean Andre Burakovsky‘s cheering from home.
- Capitals 2012 first round pick Filip Forsberg scored a goal and added a gorgeous assist. He now has 7 goals in his last three games and 5 goals in 5 games against his draft team. Someone check on Ian.
- The first line got murdered shot attempts wise again. Chalk that up to TJ Oshie being out, but I think it might be time to reunite Evgeny Kuznetsov with Alex Ovechkin.
- Ovechkin and PK Subban had another one of their mini-battles that we’ve come to love. Pretty sure we can chalk this one up as a victory for Pernell Karl.
- Bye week blues, injury woes and tired legs. All big themes in this one and a potential title for the first song on my new country album.
- Raise your hand in the comments if you are also sick and tired of offside reviews. The way the rule is enforced with lifted skates at the blue-line is broken.
- The call Brad Meier made on Dmitry Orlov in the third period that led to Nashville’s 4th goal was terrible, horrible, and awful all at the same time.
- Pour one out for Martin Erat and Michael Latta.
