Andre Burakovsky turned 22-years-old today, but his present from the hockey gods was a bad one.
Late in the first period, Burakovsky went to one knee to try and block Brendan Smith’s shot from the point. The puck struck Burakovsky on the right hand.
Here are the GIFs.
And here’s another look.
The top of Burakovsky’s right hand was caught on camera and it appears swollen and bruised. He immediately walked down to the tunnel to the locker room.
Yuck.
Burakovsky did not return for the second period and was later ruled out for the rest of the game with an upper-body injury.
#Caps Andre Burakovsky will not return to tonight's game (upper body)
