While Barry Trotz was busy taking in the Wizards game, Capitals’ third-line winger Andre Burakovsky spent his off day preparing for the team’s upcoming games.

Bake? Yes. That’s actually a thing.

According to RMNB’s resident hockey gear nerd, rock star Steve Patrick, Burakovsky literally put his skates in the oven and then wore them while they were warm. He did this to break in his new ice skates quicker. Patrick says that (at least for him) it takes seven or eight practices to break new skates in. But if you bake them, it takes two or three. Burakovsky is likely breaking in the new pair so they’re comfortable likely for this weekend’s back-to-back game.

Oh, hockey players. The lengths they will go to have their gear juuuuuusssst right.
