Barry Trotz says injured Justin Williams will play Saturday against Montreal

Wednesday night, Justin Williams was a surprise scratch. The 35-year-old winger did not skate during pregame warmups and later was announced to have a lower-body injury. Jay Beagle, Barry Trotz’s “Mr. Fix It,” took Williams’ spot on the second line.

After the Caps 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins, Trotz commented on Williams’ injury. He did not reveal much.

“He got a little bit nicked up last night,” Barry Trotz said, referring to the Caps’ game Tuesday night against the Islanders. “We just thought for the best for him to let it just settle. In a couple days he’ll be fine and he’ll play in Montreal.”

The Capitals have Thursday off and practice again on Friday. They then have back-to-back games this weekend against Montreal and the Los Angeles Kings.
