Alex Ovechkin was very excited for his friend and fellow countryman Dmitry Orlov, who notched his second career two-goal game Monday night.
When speaking to reporters in the locker room, Ovechkin compared Orlov to Hockey Hall of Famer, Nicklas Lidstrom.
“He has a tremendous shot obviously,” Ovechkin said. “We always tell him to shoot more pucks.”
“He’s more like Lidstrom,” Ovechkin added. “Russian Lidstrom.”
According to NHL.com’s Katie Brown, the Russian machine also teased Orlov after he was done speaking with the press.
Ovechkin also yelled "Russian Lidstrom!" at Orlov as he walked out of the dressing room.

I’m guessing what Ovechkin meant by this is that Orlov could score more goals if he was more aggressive from the point. Orlov’s demeanor on the ice is also very calm like Lidstrom’s.
Meanwhile Orlov summed up the game perfectly.
“I think we did a good job… and that’s it!”
