Tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin could reach the 1,000-point plateau on national television if he scores a goal or tallies a single assist. With that much pressure riding on his shoulders, you’d think the Russian machine would want to hide somewhere and keep to himself.
Instead, after noticing a fan who badly wanted to to meet him, Ovechkin went to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex gate, said hi to the girl, and signed autographs.
CSN’s JJ Regan published a photo of the girl’s sign. It read 3 flights 4662 KMs from Canada to meet Ovie please!!
Oh yeah? Well I battled Northern Va. traffic so pretty much the same thing. #Caps pic.twitter.com/Yq6dcXVBo1

And the AP’s Stephen Whyno captured video of the meet-up. Look how happy the girl is.

According to reader Gene Wu, the girl’s name is Sarah and she traveled from British Columbia, Canada along with her mother Ester.
