In a long feature about Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, NHL.com’s Tom Gulitti buried some rather big news.
Ovechkin and wife Nastya Ovechkina are planning to start a family soon.
“Of course, me and my wife want kids and hope sooner or later the kids come into our family and we’ll become the Ovechkins,” the Russian machine said.
Ovechkin married Nastya during a small private ceremony in Russia last summer. The couple confirmed the wedding on August 28, a week before Ovechkin was due to begin training for the World Cup of Hockey.
From taking Ann Schaab out on a sushi date to donating hockey gear to orphanages in Russia, Ovechkin’s charity work has rotated around making less fortunate children happy. Now it appears Ovechkin will soon have a tiny Ovechbaby to also put all his love and time into.
Ovechkin, 31, remains the only original Caps Young Gun to not have a child. Nicklas Backstrom has two children (Haley and Vince) with partner Liza, Mike Green is the father to his seven-month-old son Axel, and Alex Semin became a dad to young Alexander in August 2015.
RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
