Caps’ top prospect defenseman, Madison Bowey, will be lost indefinitely after suffering what sounds like a pretty gnarly injury Wednesday night in Syracuse.

As Bowey marked a Crunch player along the boards, his left leg gives way. For the remainder of the shift, Bowey glided on his right skate. Bowey was operated on in Syracuse and is expected to make a full recovery. The Bears did not report how much time they expected the defenseman to miss.
The injury continues what has been a bizarre season for Bowey – a season in which some believed he might challenge for an injury recall to Washington. Earlier in the season, Bowey got a talking to from the Caps after posting a video on Instagram of himself smoking a substance of some sort. He also missed the Bears’ first game back from break after a snowstorm in his hometown.

Here’s the Bears’ official statement on the injury.
The Hershey Bears announced today that defenseman Madison Bowey sustained a slight laceration of the tendon on his ankle when struck by an opposing skate during Wednesday’s game at Syracuse. He underwent a successful repair of the tendon in Syracuse last night and is expected to make a full recovery.
Bowey will be out indefinitely as he recovers from his injury.
Hershey returns to the GIANT Center this weekend as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m. for Scout Night.
