The Washington Capitals lost to the New York Islanders 4-3 Tuesday night in their first game back from Christmas break. The game featured many controversial moments, none of which were more controversial than this late second period shift change.

Now I can confirm this was a Capitals player. He’s wearing a white jersey. The person coming onto the ice was replacing members from the Caps’ fourth line. But which line came onto the ice?
I watched the tape a little further.
It was the Caps third line, which consisted of Jakub Vrana and Lars Eller. Nate Schmidt and Brooks Orpik also jumped onto the ice.

Tom Wilson remained from the previous shift, so it definitely wasn’t him. So that narrows it down to four guys.

It’s hard to see but you can clearly make out a 0 in the second digit of the number. The players who were on the ice were numbers 13, 20, 43, 44, and 88.
Therefore the person who ate it was…
Lars Eller.
