Monday afternoon, the Washington Capitals visited MedStar Georgetown University Hospital to deliver some holiday cheer for those in need.
Players divided into groups and distributed blankets, kid’s club packages, and hats collected as part of the team’s recent drive for Ellie’s Hats. There were also balloons, cupcakes, gifts, and a photographer which was all made possible from funds raised for Hope for Henry. Finally, the players and patients also brushed Capitals-themed canvas paintings in conjunction with Tracy’s Kids, a pediatric art therapy organization. The paintings will be autographed and auctioned off during the Capitals game on December 29.
But the news of the day was Alex Ovechkin and Andre Burakovsky’s ever-expanding bromance, which has appeared to reach Semin-esque levels.
Consider Ovechkin gave Burakovsky a back rub while the two worked on their canvas paintings. The pair joked around constantly. In certain brilliant photos captured by Chris Gordon, Ovechkin would look at Burakovsky and the Russian machine’s face would resemble the heart-eyes emoji.
Check these out.

Before the event started, Burakovsky wrapped his arms around Ovechkin during a team photo outside the hospital.
Wednesday, Sportsnet’s Sophia Jurksztowicz reported that Burakovsky is the team’s most popular player inside the locker room (and a shampoo model as a Swedish teen).
“Every single time I brought up his name, and I’m not kidding, their faces just lit up,” Jurksztowicz said. “They had a huge smile on their face. Some of them started to chuckle. And they really didn’t know how to describe him to a T to me. But they did say he is the glue that holds the team together. He’s always happy. He has a huge impact in that room even though he’s so young.”
