Caps players hold players-only meeting after blowing three-goal lead

Following their 4-3 overtime win, the Caps held a closed-door, players-only meeting. While the Caps ultimately came away with two points, the game was far more lopsided than the score suggested. According to Isabelle Khurshudyan, the meeting lasted about fifteen minutes, but what did the players talk about?

After a strong first period, the Caps allowed the Bruins to play catch-up and allowed 17 shots straight. In doing so, the Caps failed to notch a single shot in over 25 minutes. These “highlights” reflect growing issues with the team’s play as of late.

“No one else goes on the ice but them,” Barry Trotz said afte rthe game. “A couple of the leaders [said] ‘Hey, we wanna have a little chat.’ And I respect that. I think that’s a great stepping point for us.”

Specific details from the meeting weren’t revealed, but Braden Holtby offered some insight into what the players talked about.

This meeting follows an angry speech Barry Trotz delivered during Monday’s contest against the Buffalo Sabres.
