Marcus Johansson was the hero Monday night at Verizon Center. With 6:18 left in the third period, Johansson tied the game with a beautiful deflection goal on the power play.
In overtime, Johansson got the Caps the extra point after running a beautiful set play with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov.
The three-game losing streak is OVER.

The play began with the trio doing the weave drill. Eventually, Orlov ends up with the puck. He fakes a slap shot and then shoots a one-time pass to Johansson at the right circle. With Kuznetsov set up as a screen, Mojo beats Robin Lehner to get the monkey off the team’s back.
The goal was Johansson’s 11th goal in 24 games this season. He now has nine career two-goal games. He also has goals in four straight games against Buffalo.
It’s nice to see the boys smile again.
