TJ Oshie out week-to-week, Lars Eller out day-to-day after suffering injuries against Detroit

The Washington Capitals made it through the first month and a half of the season without injury. And then Friday night happened. Four players went down the tunnel with injuries in a horrifying first period. TJ Oshie, Lars Eller, and Andre Burakovsky did not return to the game. Tom Wilson was the only player to make it back.

On Saturday, the Capitals announced that Oshie would be out week-to-week while Lars Eller will be out day-to-day with upper body injuries.

Oshie left the game only after three shifts. The likely shoulder injury happened while he delivered a huge bodycheck in neutral ice to Riley Sheahan.

Meanwhile Eller only lasted one shift. Eller appeared to get hurt on a big hit from Tyler Bertuzzi.

Barry Trotz said Eller is doubtful for Sunday’s game against Columbus. Eller did participate in a family skate however after the team’s practice.

Trotz said a Hershey call-up would definitely happen after their game tonight but did not say who.

The best news out of this nightmare scenario is that Andre Burakovsky appears to be okay and will likely play tomorrow.
