Caps vs. Jets pregame: About darn time

At long last, the Caps return to Verizon Center–and a normal time zone. EST, you’ve been missed dearly.

We last saw the Caps when they suited up against the Jets. Thanks to Jay Beagle, the good guys returned home with their win streak intact. If the Caps want to extend that streak to four wins, they need to beat the Jets. Again.

As you’d expect, little has changed for the opposition since we last saw them two days ago. Their roster remains intact: Patrik Laine is still president of the Alex Ovechkin Fan Club, and Mathieu Perreault continues to resemble a caveman.

Puck drop is at 7 PM on CSMA. You can skip the extra caffeine for this one, folks.

Team Record Possession PDO Power Play Penalty Kill
    Washington Capitals 6-2-1  53.14% 102.5 15.4% 81.5%
    Winnipeg Jets 4-6-0  50.00% 97.2 11.4% 80.5%

    Projected Lines

It seems Winnik and Chorney are still out of commission.

    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Williams
    Johansson – Backstrom – Wilson
    Burakovsky – Eller – Oshie
    Sanford – Beagle – Connolly

    Alzner – Niskanen
    Orlov – Carlson
    Orpik – Schmidt

    Holtby

    The elephant in the room

2016 Cavaliers: first championship in 46 year history
2016 Cubs: first World Series win in 108 years
    2017 Capitals: ???#BreaktheCurse2017

    Storylines

    • The Caps’ defensemen have been tearin’ it up offensively. Here’s why.
    • Ted Leonsis is considering a move for the Caps and Wiz. No, Quebec City is not part of the picture.
    • That said, the good people of Deadspin have some thoughts about a cross-town move.
    • Madison Bowey found himself in hot water for hotboxing, which is apparently cool with the NHL.
    • An early-season look at the Jets, in case you missed the other night’s game.
    • This baby’s Tom Wilson-inspired Halloween costume was adorable, and Tom Wilson thought so too.
    • According to The Los Angeles Times, Sidney Crosby is still king of the NHL.
    • Even The Wall Street Journal knows how critical speed is to success in today’s NHL.

    Too soon for turkey?

Since Halloween is over, we can finally jump ahead to Christmas! Yeah, not so fast. Thanksgiving (be it Canadian or American) is kind of a major holiday. While it may be too early to argue about stuffing recipes, it’s never too early to bake a good pie…or cook a chicken.

If you’re seeking recipe inspiration that doesn’t come from Tasty videos inundating your News Feed, here’s a classic: Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Roasted Chicken. If you happen to pick up a Michelin star along the way, do let us know.
