Andrew Shaw suspended three meaningless preseason games for boarding Connor Hobbs

The Department of Player Safety has just announced a three-game suspension for Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw. On Tuesday, Shaw was ejected from his Habs debut after boarding Caps prospect Connor Hobbs. He then went on to taunt Nathan Walker and ask for cheers from the home crowd during the resulting fight.

Three games is stiff, but the fact they’re all preseason games makes this suspension completely meaningless. Way to go, NHL.
