Alex Ovechkin scored 50 goals last season for the seventh time in his legendary 11-year career. NHL Tonight broke down the area on the ice and location on net where Ovi put all his biscuits in the basket. A few patterns emerge.
You already knew this, but 11 of Ovechkin’s 19 power play goals last season were scored from his office in the left face off circle.
Ovechkin also appears to aim more for the left side of the net, or short side, than anywhere else. The Russian machine also scored many of his goals usually where a goalie’s five hole would be: low and to the center of the net.
Check out footage of all of Ovechkin’s goals from last season here.
