Wednesday afternoon, the NHL’s online shop updated the pre-filled text on their customized jersey pages and Twitter is going to love this.
I’ll let reader Sam C. explain.
I went online to look at getting a customized jersey of Nate Schmidt (America’s Smiling Hero) and scrolled down to see internet nirvana. The pre-filled text read 69 HARAMBE.
Here’s a screenshot of what Sam saw.

Thinking this was either a momentary glitch or that Sam was hallucinating, I went to a customized jersey pages myself. I saw the same exact thing – except sometimes other numbers showed up instead of 69.

The NHL will also never forget you, Harambe.
(Somebody’s totally getting fired for this.)
5:30PM Update: The pre-filled text no longer exists but that was fun for 30 minutes.
Russian Machine Never Breaks is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
