Alex Ovechkin did the hot stick celebration in 2009. Seven years later it has finally ended up in an EA Sports video game.
NHL 17, which was released Tuesday, features Ovechkin’s signature celly as an unlockable celebration.

You can also dab and do Jaromir Jagr’s salute. Here are all the possible celebrations.
Ovechkin’s hot stick celly originally happened on March 19, 2009, when Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the 2008-09 season against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Former Caps goaltender Jose Theodore took responsibility for the idea that was loved by everyone except for Don Cherry and the Tampa organization.
Thanks for the heads up, @DakotaConduct.
