Capitals teammates Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov spent Thursday together in Russia supporting friend and former Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk. Datsyuk, who retired from the NHL over the summer, played his first home game for SKA St. Petersburg.

SKA routed Salavat Yulaev Ufa, 7-1. Ilya Kovalchuk scored a hat trick and had six points.
Russia’s national team has been practicing in St. Petersburg for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. NHL superstars Artemi Panarin, Vladimir Tarasnko, and Semyon Varlamov were also in attendance.
