Early Friday morning, Expressen’s Gunnar Nordstrom reported that Nicklas Backstrom‘s family is now one tiny human bigger.
“We had our second child on Monday,” Backstrom said to Nordstrom, as translated by RMNB’s Magnus Cadelin. “Therefore, we went over (to the United States) earlier this year.”
“Everything went well and he’s named Vince,” Backstrom said.
Vince is Backstrom’s second child. Backstrom’s girlfriend Liza previously gave birth to Haley, who will turn three years old at the beginning of October.

Backstrom will have only one more week with his family before traveling back to Sweden. Backstrom told Nordstrom that he will be flying back September 1 for Sweden’s World Cup of Hockey training camp, which is being held in Gothenburg. He will briefly return to Washington on September 11 for several days of training and an exhibition with Team Europe on September 14. Then it’s off to Toronto, where Sweden begins the tournament against Russia on September 18.
