Wednesday afternoon, Washington Capitals winger and American hero TJ Oshie took the 22 Pushups Challenge after being challenged by teammate Karl Alzner. The exercise encourages awareness about the staggering statistic that an average of 22 veterans are killed by suicide every day and the mental health issues that can lead to these tragedies.

“I’m accepting the 22 Pushups Challenge from Karl Alzner,” Oshie says in the video. “The 22 signifies the number of American veterans that commit suicide on average everyday. Let’s do the pushup challenge and spread as much awareness as we can and hopefully save some lives.”
While TJ’s push-ups are cool, the real star of the video ends of being Oshie’s daughter Lyla.
“You ready to do some push-ups,” TJ asks Lyla in his cute dad voice. “Okay! Here we go!”
As TJ powers through 22 pushups in 15 seconds, Lyla looks at and mimics her papa. While her form — having both her hands and knees on the ground — has much to be desired, she definitely gets an A for effort.

TJ challenged Nicklas Backstrom, Danny Kristo, and Jeremy Roenick next.
JR answered the challenge this evening.
