There’s a lady wearing an Alex Ovechkin jersey in the front row of SummerSlam

Hey, I’m going to talk about wrestling for a minute. Forgive me.

15-time WWE champion John Cena lost to AJ Styles at the 2016 edition of SummerSlam tonight held at Barclays Center. The marathon match featured multiple, ridiculous kick-outs of finishers until Cena ate a combination of the Styles Clash and Phenomenal Forearm. Cena, who usually defeats pretty much everyone he fights (and if he doesn’t emerge victorious in a singles match, he always relents in a best-of series), sat up from the mat and looked demoralized. The moment, which felt large, was punctuated by Cena taking off his Never Give Up wristband and leaving it in the ring.

Yeah, yeah, yeah who cares, Ian, get to the good part.

As Cena began walking up the ramp and saying goodbye to fans… holy frick – will you look at that! There’s an Alex Ovechkin Team Russia jersey.

And I wasn’t the only one who noticed!

Through three hours of SummerSlam, I haven’t seen any Islanders gear in the crowd.

Earlier in the summer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers wore an Ovi Team Russia jersey during a concert in Moscow.
