The Washington City Paper published an item by Matt Terl on Thursday that called the phrase behind this li’l ol’ blog right here as one of the best sports phrases in DC.
Terl also calls RMNB “one of the best local hockey blogs,” which is very nice, though it was a lot nicer when there were like 78 local hockey blogs instead of the three and a half we have now.
You’ll have to read Terl’s article to see the other four phrases, so go do that. For now, here are five more phrases that are even better than “Russian machine never breaks.”
- “Is no disco right now” Said by Alex Ovechkin when the team sucked. We loved the phrase so much, we stole it for our 404 page.
- “Take it to #TheBank” Have you ever been so wrong about something yet also so sure about it at the same? Yeah, me neither.
- “It’s not my first rodeo” Brooks Orpik taught Evgeny Kuznetsov this phrase, and then Kuzy said it pretty much everyday for an entire spring. We’ve got a shirt about it.
- “Bailamos” There is nothing finer in life than to see your hockey captain dancing on the ice like a demented weirdo. Dancing is a sign of unbridled joy, and it comes only when your team buries the other in goals, which brings me to…
- “Scoar Moar Goals” Did you chew your fingernails during the Hunter administration and throw shoes at the TV during the Oates years? Then you know what we’re talking about. Never stop scoring is the name of the game, aside from hockey, which is the game’s other name.
