Alex Ovechkin just scored his first goal of the postseason. It was an Ovi Shot From The Ovi Spot on the power play. The goal, Ovechkin’s 37th career playoff tally, gave the Caps a 3-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
The goal was great and all, but I want to direct you to the pass made by Nicklas Backstrom.
He sauced a pass through TJ Oshie’s skates. Brilliant.
During intermission, former Caps goaltender Brent Johnson explained that Backstrom’s pass was so hard, Mason had no chance to recover, especially considering Ovechkin’s heavy shot.
Ovechkin's goal is his 37th in 74 playoff games. #CapitalsTalk

Ovi’s now one point away from tying Dale Hunter for the franchise’s all-time point scorer.
Ovechkin sits one point shy of tying Dale Hunter (72) for first place on the #Caps franchise playoff points list.
