Earlier this year, the Caps shared their favorite Valentine’s Day gifts to On Tap Magazine. In the article, we learned that Caps defenseman Nate Schmidt still sleeps on a pillow he once got from an ex-girlfriend.

“An old high school girlfriend gave me this awesome Tempur-pedic bed pillow,” Schmidt said. “I still have it from my junior year of high school. Super comfy!”

Somehow this got back to Tempur-pedic, and the brand reached out to Schmidt on Twitter. Really.

Look how excited he is. Granted Nate Schmidt is excited about everything.

So to summarize: Because professional athlete Nate Schmidt name-dropped Tempur-pedic in a local magazine article, he now has two Tempur-pedic pillows.

Which reminds me…

I need to level with you guys. Tempur-pedic totally makes the best pillows. Some days at work when I’m really tired from blogging all night, I daydream about coming home and laying my head down on one of Tempur-pedic’s TEMPUR-Cloud® Breeze Dual Cooling Pillows. Yes, I sit there in my cubicle and long for how the pillow would precisely support my head, neck and shoulders, while the TEMPUR-Breeze Gel Layer keeps me cool. Then I imagine myself looking down. I see it! I beam with pride. My TEMPUR-Cloud® Breeze Dual Cooling Pillow has a custom stitched hockey stick on the corner too.

But I’m sure that daydream will never become a reality. I guess I’ll just go back onto the @russianmachine Twitter account and start staring at our mentions again.
