Sweatpants-over-jeans innovator Alex Ovechkin is on the cover of DC Modern Luxury magazine for the month of April. Ovechkin was named one of magazine’s Men of Style. This is an interesting choice considering Ovechkin wears sweatpants to everything – like a TV show honoring himself.
What did Alex Ovechkin wear during a special honoring Alex Ovechkin? Sweatpants, of course! pic.twitter.com/k7Q3MBJpuX

A few seasons ago, Troy Brouwer had this to say about Ovi.
“The one thing I would love the hockey world to know about Alex is that he has the worst style ever,” Brouwer said of his then captain. “He only has a few suits and he wears a tuxedo shirt with one of his suits.”
Barry Trotz also recently said recently in a radio interview that Ovi was the worst-dressed player on the team.
As Ovi puts on makeup all I can think is Mike Knuble describing 8's style as "Hobo chic"-in a loving way, of course! https://t.co/ehFKjjIK2H

That’s not to say that Ovechkin doesn’t possess a unique sense of style. Much like his communication style on Twitter, Ovechkin, who has greying hair and a missing tooth, doesn’t let societal fashion norms affect him. He is confident and comfortable with who he is, which in itself is a wonderful thing and worth emulating.
The Capitals posted a video from the photoshoot.
The photographer asked Ovechkin, “Is there a side you favor, left or right?
“It doesn’t matter,” Ovechkin replied matter-of-factly.
No, it doesn’t. Clothes just look good on Alex Ovechkin. This is not rocket science.
Congrats, Ovi.
