Former Capital Brooks Laich just scored his first goal as a Maple Leaf, ending his 63-game goalless drought. The Leafs’ Tobias Lindberg also picked up his first career NHL point assisting on the Laich tally. It was reminiscent of Evgeny Kuznetsov’s twister pass.
A relieved Laich let out a big smile after scoring what would be his second goal of the season.
Laich was TSN’s intermission interview and talked about finally getting the monkey off his back.
“It’s just nice to know the puck fits in the net again,” Laich joked. “Been a tough year offensively for myself. Coming here that was the opportunity I was really looking for: to get more minutes and get my offensive game back. Great play by Lindy, his first NHL point, so congrats to him. We’ll try to get another one here in the third.”
Laich’s last goal came last year against the Boston Bruins on November 5. Congratulations, bud!
