The league-leader in goals, Alex Ovechkin, scored again, Friday. The Ovi shot from the Ovi spot tied the Caps-Wild game 2-2.

It was standard fare for Ovi. Matt Niskanen, who replaced an injured John Carlson as the power play quarterback, sent a perfect pass into Ovi’s wheelhouse. The Russian machine overpowered Darcy Kuemper, one-timing the puck through the Wild goalie’s seven-hole.

The goal was Ovechkin’s 515th of his career tying him with Pierre Turgeon for 36th all-time. It also gave Ovechkin his eighth 40-goal season, a feat that puts him in the same rarified air as hall of famers Bobby and Brett Hull.

Let’s review all the things he accomplished with his goal.

The tally also extended Ovechkin’s point streak to five games (2/18-2/26: 4g, 4a). He’s earned 23 points in his last 20 games.
