As Peter so eloquently put it in the recap, the Washington Capitals had their garbage game tonight. But here’s where I’m going to blow your mind: the Caps still almost came back. They outshot the Habs 36-34 and were inches from tying the score.
There were a few good moments late in the game. Dmitry Orlov’s sixth SCOARLOV of the year was a sick snipe. Andre Burakovsky’s goal, which brought the Caps to within one, was also a gem.
After taking a great pass from Tom Wilson Stan Galiev, the Burracuda wrists a shot past Mike Condon’s five hole. I’d write more, but it’s just a beautiful shot which we need to enjoy from every angle.
To celebrate the goal, Burakovsky stole Evgeny Kuznetsov’s finger twirl-y celly thing, which we still have no idea what it means.
This celly doesn’t have the ridiculousness of the belly pat or anything Karl Alzner has ever done, but if everyone on the team starts doing, I’m going to fall in love.
