Welcome back to the highlight-reel, Evgeny Kuznetsov.
Early in the second period, Kuzy did that backwards pass again, where he throws the puck behind his body to the opposite corner of the goal. The Isles, in particular goaltender Thomas Greiss, fell for the move. Hard.
The benefactor was Alex Ovechkin who scored one of the easiest goals of his career. It was his 36th of the season.
Check this out.
Yeah, that’s not fair. The puck was in the net before Greiss had even turned his head.
That’s Kuzy’s league-leading 34th primary assist and 42nd assist overall of the season.
A few minutes later, Ovechkin would score his league-leading 37th goal of the season on a nice passing play by TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom.
Alex Ovechkin scores on the PP. It's his second of the night, 37th goal of the season, and 512th goal of his career. pic.twitter.com/sZmM1rPpYr
