Justin Williams Scores (Barely) On Breakaway After Fantastic Defensive Play by Alex Ovechkin (Video)

Justin Williams has been kinda sorta bad luck this season. Caps players, including Alex Ovechkin and Williams himself, had seen goals washed out due to goofs this season. But on Saturday afternoon, Williams was the author of his own success, and even got luck to turn his way a little bit for once.

In end-to-end action, the Capitals regained possession after Alex Ovechkin forced a turnover by checking Ryan McDonough hard to the ice.

Nate Schmidt then quickly pushed the puck up to Justin Williams, who went Rambo-style from that point.

Williams drove solo on Lundqvist, stopping short and tucking the puck barely under Henrik’s skates. It took a moment to be sure, but the puck crossed the goal line.

That’s Justin Williams’ 12th goal of the season, and, more importantly, the Caps lead 2-0 in the second period.
