The Capitals have been outshot and outplayed by the Carolina Hurricanes through the first two periods, but still managed to be tied entering the third period. That’s because of Super Swede Nicklas Backstrom and his sensational, Joe Sakic-esque snapshot.
(Yes, I’m very thankful Backstrom could suit up and play tonight.)
The play started with a stick-less TJ Oshie playing soccer with the puck at the Caps defensive blue line. Because of this brilliant footwork, the Capitals maintained possession and Backstrom eventually scored.
Look at this perfect shot.
That’s Backstrom’s 11th goal of the season.
