When we first met Nate Schmidt back in 2013, we knew he was weird in a good way. With a GoPro affixed to his head at development camp, Schmidt uttered Minnesotan bon mots like “if you find a turtle on a fence post, you know someone put it there” and “a hundred pounds of dough makes a big biscuit, boys.” I still have no idea what any of that means.
With a regular spot in the line-up this season, Schmidt is getting even more comfortable. And to our benefit, he’s letting out his inner weird more.
On Sunday, Schmidt did an interview with John Walton.
Schmidt talked about getting past the rustiness of the four-day Christmas break, “You’re sweating out the cookies, the puppy chow.” He talked about 36-year-old veteran Jason Chimera and how the team needs to “get that young guy going.” He also mentioned saying “I swear I’m not going to bite” to kids during a Defending the Blue Line meet and greet.
And then he concluded it by doing finger guns at the camera.
If that’s not enough, CSN Washington got Nate to scream Kirk Cousins’ tired, yet still somehow funny, line of “You Like That!” at the camera. It’s brilliant.
YOU LIKE THAT!It’s becoming a D.C. sensation.
