*Tag team, back again*
Ovi and Backy are reunited, everyone. The usually inseparable duo have skated just 21 minutes together at 5v5 so far this season, but that could be changing as of today.
Some changes to Caps top six at practice this morning: 8-19-77
90-92-65
25-83-14
21-46-43— Katie Brown (@katiebhockey) November 16, 2015
It remains to be seen if Barry Trotz will use these lines in game action, but Backstrom and Ovechkin skating together in practice is noteworthy. After all, if Ponch and John started working different shifts, but then Ponch came back to day shift, wouldn’t that be noteworthy?
The decision to break up the Caps top line of Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Oshie is probably a good one right now. The line has seen a steep drop in production and possession recently.
Meanwhile, the second line has a tantalizing amount of skill. It will be interesting to see how that line works out if Trotz moves forward with it. The trio has only skated five minutes together in their careers, which likely have all come from when the Caps were in the middle of a line change.
But anyways, Backstrom and Ovi. Tag team, back again.
