Last year during the playoffs, Tom Wilson was public enemy number one to the New York Islanders. Wilson injured Lubomir Visnovsky with a hard but legal check in game four of the series. In game six, one Islanders fan came to Nassau Coliseum with a “Wilson Sucks” sign. She held it up during warm-ups.
Noticing our article after the game, Wilson posted the sign on Instagram and responded. “That hurts,” he wrote with a laughing emoji.
In October, that same Islanders fan, Danielle C., decided to mend some fences. She drove down to Caps practice and met Wilson in the parking lot. She had Willy Baby sign a shirsey that it appears she bought herself. She published this photo to Instagram, with the caption “We used to hate each other but we’re cool now.” She wore all Isles gear.
I find this really cool, and more proof that Tom Wilson is so damn likable, even opposing team’s fans can’t help but love him.
