Alex Ovechkin‘s 900th career point wasn’t a classic Ovechkin goal. Instead of a raucous celebration following a hard shot, Ovi gave a simple glove kiss after knocking in his own rebound.
Carrying the puck into the Calgary zone solo, Rambo-style, Ovechkin put a snapper on Karri Ramo. Ramo had the answer for that shot, but he didn’t track the rebound. Ovechkin seized on the loose puck to give the Caps the lead and himself yet another milestone: 900 career points.
That’s like 900 more than Mel Angelstad scored.
In Alex Ovechkin's first game in the NHL (10/5/2005), he scored twice. 10 yrs & 15 days later, he scored his 900th point in his 764th game.

Just a reminder: Ovechkin’s only 30-years-old and is now only 21 goals away from 500.
Crazy.
With his goal tonight, Alex Ovechkin becomes the first player in #Caps franchise history to reach 900 NHL points (479g, 421a).

#Caps Alex Ovechkin (764 GP) is the second-fastest to reach the 900-point mark among active players, trailing Jaromir Jagr (681 GP).
